Hi there and welcome to our first ever list of blog and site resources that cover topics related to mobility. The aim of this post is to share some love with these blogs with their own unique approach to solving your mobility problems, improving your flexibility, and providing you with new stretches and routines to try out. Without wasting anymore time, in no particular order, here are some of my favorite stretching, mobility, and flexibility blogs to check out!
Greg Lehman really does it all covering running science, injury management, treatment, and fitness training. The first time I came across his blog was when searching for information on foam rolling the IT band. It was his blog that gave me some more information on potential issues of rolling on the IT band and why you should stop doing it. I had been rolling this area so this was some new and extremely useful information for me. I’ve been frequenting his blog ever since, and so should you!
Maryann Berry over at Realign Therapy stands behind an encompassing mission statement which I’ll repeat here:
- Eliminate the struggle and frustration people go through when they look for a solution to pain and cannot find it.
- Enable people to put the fate of their health into their own hands.
These two simple statements make her goals clear. Checking out her blog you’ll already see that she wants to get to the root cause of an issue and not just apply some band-aid fix that keeps you coming back. Her videos are extremely well done, and often are on topics that you won’t find covered anywhere else. She has created some unique methodologies to solve problems that you just can’t figure out – like correcting tight hamstrings when you’ve tried literally everything except for this. Her blog is the real deal – so get over there and soak up some info.
If you haven’t heard of him before, he’s Brad Walker – Stretch Coach. Sounds kind of catchy doesn’t it? If you don’t think so, it’ll be hard to forget his name after checking out some of his website’s content. He focuses on making a ton of videos on sport specific movements, cracks into research and shares the truth, and loves to interact with his readers. Check out his blog for sport mobility training, and to answer all those questions that you just couldn’t find the answer to.
The Movement Fix or TMF blog is operated by Dr. DeBell and his team out of their brick and mortar chiropractic and therapy clinic. This blog is a real treat and is jam packed full of exercises to work on literally any mobility issue you could run into. Dr. DeBell frequently makes exercise videos conveying his thoughts and the necessary information concisely on popular topics with his own tested approach. Head on over to TMF blog and get lost in the amount of info in the pages and media.
Jules recently finished her graduated degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis on biomechanics. Through her blog she aims to educate the public further on known facts, dispel common myths about yoga, and explore the unknown as well. She focuses largely on yoga movements which can applied to specific mobility issues or used as standalone stretches and exercises. Check out her blog for a healthy dose of yoga info, stretching, muscular strength, and mobility work for specific yoga movements.
Dr. Ben Kim advocates foam rolling to improve circulation, reduce risk of injury, and regain your mobility. His blog covers a lot of mobility and stretching exercises, alongside some general health and wellness tips. His blog has a more preventative approach, and would be useful for those spending large amounts of time at the desk and looking to become more active but worried about injury.
Jenni’s blog is another of our favorite yoga blogs featured in this list. I personally really like yoga moves for solving some mobility issues in ways you wouldn’t have thought. There are a lot of creative movements that often combine stretches that you can use to get your body moving the way you want it to. Jenni is a certified yoga instructor, and has even released a few of her own yoga DVDs. I really like her blog because it covers some more technical aspects of yoga which are directly applicable to understanding and improving mobility. One more really cool feature of her site is the “Practice online with Jenni” section. You can pay to get access to her online courses and work on your yoga and mobility in the comfort of your own home!
That’s the end of the list…for now! I’d love to hear back from you on the blogs posted on this list after you’ve checked them out. If you have any more blogs or websites that you think should be added to the list feel free to drop me a line and I’ll check them out! The aim of this post was to just spread some awareness of some sites that are doing great things in the field of mobility and stretching – I hope you liked it. While you’re here, feel free to check out our stretching, and foam rolling sections!
